This superb English chair dates from c. 1750 and is in excellent condition. Frame is complete with no damage or repairs and only minor dings (photographs of the chair frame prior to upholstery are available on request).
Beautiful serpentine top and seat rails, cabriole legs to front and back, the front legs with well carved knees, slender ankles and beautifully carved large ball and claw feet. The arms with scrolling acanthus carving and finely carved and scrolled rests.
Newly upholstered in a top quality Gainsborough Silk Company fabric, a heavyweight silk and linen mix - the pattern and colour copied from an original fragment of 18th Century furnishings in an antique gold with pale embroidered and scrolled design.
Heavy and robust, a very good Georgian Gentlemans chair of excellent colour and condition.
