Full Description

A superior quality English concertina action George II
card table. Made of rich and heavy Cuban mahogany with carved acanthus
to the knees, elegant cabriole legs terminating in large pad feet. The
top with shaped lobes. The top opens flat and level on original brass
hinges. The green baise is 19th century with embossed edge and in very
good condition for age. The table has four corner candle stands and
retains its original mahogany tray which slides beneath the table top
and has a section for cards and counters - these trays were often
removed and lost and it is very rare to have an original slide. The
table bears the label for Spillman & Co, London. A retailer of high
quality antiques in the 19th century and bespoke cabinet makers.
Spillman's, like Aspreys and Harrods, only dealt in the best pieces of
antique furniture.

The card table is in exceptional original condition and comes from a
private home where it has been well cared for. It retains its original
finish and has a lovely colour and well developed patina. Entirely
right and a very beautiful and useable piece.
