Full Description
A very good bookcase cabinet of particularly slender proportions and beautifully constructed in very well figured high quality mahogany. The bookcase retaining its original handmade glass and original adjustable shelves. The cabinet below fitted with drawers retaining their original oak linings and brass bail handles.

Lovely swept cornice with applied Gothic mouldings. The glass doors with beautifully shaped astagral bars and the lower case doors with fielded panels inlaid with wonderfully figured crotches of mahogany in oval reserves and flanked by quartered mahogany each outlined with ebony stringing.

All set on original ogee bracket feet. The quality of construction and knowledgeable use of timbers has ensured the bookcase has survived in excellent original condition and it is a very usable and beautiful piece of furniture.

At only 38 cms deep (15 inches) this cabinet was made bespoke and is of a rarely seen slender depth – entirely original and as made. It will sit very well in any room without encroaching and could also work well in a corridor or hallway.
